HBC Holds In-Person Camp for Young Burn Survivors

May 5, 2021

BATTLE GROUND. Indiana- After careful & calculated thought and consideration, we are excited to announce Hoosier Burn Camp will be holding a modified in-person camp for young burn survivors this summer. The health of our campers and our staff remain paramount, so we are taking a layered approach with detailed protocol to keep everyone safe.

In order to attend, campers and staff must have a negative PCR test 72 hours before arrival at camp, as well as a second test upon arrival to keep our bubble secure. Campers will then be kept in smaller bubbles throughout the week and will wear different masks daily.

While we have decided to proceed with Visitor’s Day, it will have a different look and feel this year. Only individuals with vital roles for the day will be permitted on the premises, and we will require a negative PCR test from them as well. We are working with our media partners to create videos from various donors and contributors as well as provide a social media stream for those who will not be able to attend this year.

“While we are saddened that these precautions are necessary, our hearts are filled with gratitude we will be able to gather, despite the restrictions,” said HBC Executive Director, Mark Koopman. “This has been a trying year for all of us, especially for our HBC family who needs to feel connected,” he added.

Camp will be held May 30th-June 4th at Camp Tecumseh in Battle Ground, IN.
